Big Batch Lemon Drop Cocktails
Like grown up lemonade. But better.

I'll say it again for the people in the back:
Make-ahead and big batch cocktails are a party host's best friend. You may love the image of freshly shaken drinks served a la minute to arriving guests, but you'll quickly find yourself in the weeds, and the weeds are a stressful place to be.
Ergo, pitcher cocktails for the party win.

And it doesn't get simpler than the lemon drop. A grown-up lemonade, this is a blend of vodka, lemon juice and orange flavoured liqueur for a touch of complexity. Some bartenders, naturally, take liberties with the recipe and adding rosemary syrup, blueberry vodka, or Limoncello for an extra layer of lemony goodness.
And for what it's worth, Food and Wine has just declared the Lemon Drop to be the cocktail of Summer 2024.
Aren't you a trend setter!
Big Batch Lemon Drop
This is make-ahead, but only by a few hours. Fresh citrus (and always use fresh citrus, never the bottled stuff), takes on a tinny taste when out for too long. Also, leave the lemon slices out until just before serving. The lemon pith quickly infuses the drink with an off-putting bitter taste.
Makes: 8, 4oz drinks

Ingredients:
- 2 cups vodka
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup orange flavoured liqueur
- ½ cup simple syrup
- 8 tsp water
