Poinsettia Cocktail

two coups with bubbly being poured into them; two hands with red nails grabbing glasses

How festive is this?!?!

by Erin Henderson

If there is anything I know to be true, it's that a quality sparkling wine cocktail will instantly add glamour to any fête. Indeed, my parties are rarely without one.

This one – aptly christened the Poinsettia – also bumps up the festive flare with its bold crimson hue, as bright as Rudolph's nose, and as alluring as the dangerous berries festooning the mistletoe.

Poinsettia Cocktail

Should you seek out some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of family this holiday, this recipe is demurely adaptable for one. I like to have a few 200ml, single-serve bubbly bottles on hand for occasions such as this.

But, we also have a large batch option below, should you rather spend your time rocking around the Christmas tree and not playing barkeep all night.

Makes: 1 drink
Bartender level: easy

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz cranberry cocktail
  • ½ oz orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
  • 4 oz chilled sparkling wine, such as Prosecco
  • Rosemary sprig, for garnish
How to Make It:
  1. Into a shaker filled with ice, add the cranberry cocktail and orange liqueur.
  2. Shake well until cold, and strain into a champagne flute.
  3. Gently top with chilled bubbly and garnish with a rosemary sprig.
